I met Yolie 10 years ago when she joined Comisión Femenil, a local nonprofit aimed at improving life and opportunities for Latinas in the San Fernando Valley. I have been an active member of this organization since 1999, but when Yolanda came to our meetings, an entirely new and productive energy entered the room with her. She entered with a wealth of experience serving Los Angeles through advocacy for youth, education, food and health. She also lifted our organization to the next level by drafting and executing a strategic plan to help focus and grow Comisión. Later, she added environmental advocacy to her repertoire with ongoing grassroots energy to beautify and make more accessible the Northeast Valley Nature Parkway. At this time I wholeheartedly throw my support behind Yolie knowing that she will bring her skills and passion for community improvement and citizen advocacy to the state level.
Diplomatic, dedicated, grounded. These are just a few of the leadership qualities that make Yolie Anguiano the candidate our district so desperately needs. I have known Yolie for nearly 10 years through our volunteer and community work. Yolie is strongly connected to the community and has the knowledge and charater to address challenges while advocating for such issues as those affecting youth and our environment. Yolie is exactly who our district and community needs to create much needed positive change.
I had the pleasure if working alongside Yolie at MEND and her commitment to the northeast San Fernando Valley is clear. She always puts people first, and took the time to learn the individual and unique needs of each person. She tailored job training to the person’s talent and goals. Yolie knows the importance of job creation and job training to everyone living in our community. Her roots run deep in the San Fernando Valley. She is well connected with others who work hard to improve our community. She is also poised to listen to concerns and solutions. She is a person you want to work with towards common goals.
